View verification
View verification is the process of confirming that the views reported on a piece of content came from real people before those views are paid out, by examining the shape of the view curve, the ratio of engagement to reach, and the behaviour of the account that posted it.
The moment views are worth money, some people will manufacture them. Bought views cost a few dollars per thousand and a campaign paying two dollars per thousand is an obvious arbitrage. Verification exists to close it, and any campaign paying on views without it is being farmed.
What the checks look at
- →Like-rate against views. Below roughly 0.2% at scale, the views are unlikely to be real.
- →Like-rate that is implausibly HIGH — above about 35% — which is the signature of bought likes rather than bought views.
- →Zero comments on a clip with significant reach, which is atypical for organic distribution.
- →View velocity: a spike of many times the trailing average, where engagement did not grow with it.
- →Comment quality, assessed separately, since generic bot comments read differently from real ones.
Why it is a judgement, not a threshold
No single signal is conclusive, and the checks only run once a clip has enough reach for ratios to mean anything — below about a thousand views the numbers are too noisy to judge. Clips genuinely do go viral from small accounts, and that is the whole appeal of the format. So several signals are weighed together and combined into one score, which produces a verdict of verified, needs review, or denied, rather than one hard rule that would punish legitimate outliers.
What it means if you are clipping honestly
Very little, most of the time. Post from a real account, do not buy views or likes, and let the clip find its audience. A brand-new submission with no view history yet is held for review rather than paid or denied, so a short delay on a fresh clip is normal rather than a problem.
What it means if you are funding a campaign
It is the difference between a pool that pays for reach and a pool that pays for nothing. Verification is the reason a funded bounty can pay on views at all without the budget being drained by whoever is quickest to buy traffic.
Every submission on Clipd is verified before it earns.
